Over the past few months, I’ve come up with the idea to collaborate and successfully form a community of the most talented and well-known minority bloggers here in Detroit. My interest to officially begin this project started back in November 2016 when I realized that bloggers have huge communities all across the country from New York to LA, and even Chicago but none in Detroit. Knowing the market and understanding the few here in Detroit with large individual followings, I decided to pull together our talents to better harness and bring attention away from the blight but the uplifting, prosperous, and already blooming individuals here in this city. BGBLU is an acronym I came up with which stands for “Brown Girl Bloggers Link Up”. Meaning, all minority bloggers of Detroit, come together and grow each other, uplift one another, and show the rest of the world what greatness we have and what opportunities we can pull together here in Detroit. The release of this project was so well received that I’ve already begun to extend it to others in the east coast and plan to collaborate with my beautiful Brown Girl Bloggers in the east coast from D.C. to New York and am excited to bring this journey on the road.
It’s with beyond great pleasure that I introduce to you, my first cycle of the Brown Girl Bloggers of Detroit. I hope you stay tuned and enjoy this journey, for I have many more exciting ventures and twists to this project to show to you all and the rest of the world!
