BME: The Benefits of Eating at Brome vs Anywhere Else
Brome Modern Eatery is one of my favorite restaurants to newly enter the vastly growing downtown Detroit area. Aside from them being the first burger to make me officially become a burger enthusiast, they have a lot of special qualities which makes them stand apart from the rest. After visiting both locations (downtown Detroit and Dearborn) a few times, I can see that there is something quite unique in the establishment that sets them apart from other restaurants.
One thing I love about Brome Modern Eatery/Balence Juice is their commitment to the Detroit community. When you walk in, there’s tons of artwork by talented to Detroit artists and great music playing that caters to the people who actually live in the community. They have strong commitments to their customers and team members by using scratch made ingredients that are responsibly sourced as they are very transparent about the process in which they prepare the fresh foods for the past 3 years. Many of the team members they’ve acquired over the past couple of years were some of the people they’ve served. They’ve raised wages across the board for them as they opened their new location in the downtown Detroit area just a few months ago. Their newest policy is that front house members start at $12 per hour and back house at $15. They believe that the pay raise is their way of helping team members meet their commitments outside of the workplace. If employees aren’t focused on the stress of the job plus everyday financial commitments, they can perform their duties better, leaving a positive environment for the patrons to enjoy.
Brome Modern Eatery even has an ongoing campaign that I’ve noticed since I’ve first become a patron a few years ago which is the Plat the Seeds campaign. This campaign urges customers and business acquaintances to “live and work more responsibly” – Zane Makky, one of the managers. “A perfect world is a world where everyone is aware of the impact that they have on their surroundings” he continues. This campaign helps the customers better understand their position on many things that will motivate everyone around us to do better for themselves and for the planet we live in by “planting the seeds” for a better future for all of us.
This year alone, Brome not only grew to another location but they even have a delicious breakfast food truck! It’s the newest menu addition to a series of breakfast sandwiches that are available in Detroit Monday through Friday from 8am to 10am. This menu along with the Balence Juice bar is aimed at helping Detroit’s earliest risers have their day start off to a wonderful start.
Brome makes a conscious effort to minimize the negative impact we all have on our planet. They pledge 100% organic beef that only comes from grass-fed cows that lead comfortable lives. They also pledge ingredients that are NON-GMO certified is all that enters our bodies. Their focal point menu items are set to the highest standard, from their house cut NON-GMO Kennebec potatoes, daily freshly baked and delivered buns with 0 preservatives, scratch-made custard with local milk and real vanilla bean, to salads prepared to order using highest quality ingredients possible. Their waste is very minimalistic as almost all their ingredients are used in their consistent rotation throughout their entire menu. I thoroughly enjoy eating at Brome Modern Eatery for a number of reasons as mentioned previously, they’re the first burger I’ve ever had and loved, their food items are nicely portioned as I don’t feel overfed, wasteful, or less than I paid for, and I always leave more than satisfied. From there innovative menu items on the dessert menu to the hospitable customer service, my experience there is truly one-of-a-kind at both locations (which is a rarity in the hospitality business). I love Brome and I expect you all (those living in the city and those visiting from out of state) to check them out if you haven’t already. You’ll most definitely thank me later.
